【奈良筆】SAKUYO Fude for Suibokuga & Nihonga paintings

【奈良筆】SAKUYO Fude for Suibokuga & Nihonga paintings

削用 SAKUYO brushes by Nara brush traditional craftsman Mr. Kazuo Suzuki.

The SAKUYO Fude crafted by Mr. Suzuki offers a unique and special experience as it glides across the paper, almost as if the artist's breath is transferred to the brush tip. This brush is particularly renowned for its use in traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga), and its versatility makes it suitable for a wide array of applications, from delicate fine lines to broad strokes for covering large areas. As a result, it has gained popularity in Suibokuga painting (Japanese ink painting) and also in various other artistic endeavors.

It is named so because it has been meticulously shaved to become thin. This brush, created in the pursuit of achieving excellent brush control, is a result of the artist's quest for a brush with a finely-tuned tip. The term '削' means to shave.
