Pine Soot Sumi Ink from Nara: Tensho-ryu
This Pine Soot Ink is meticulously crafted by the seventh-generation shokunin of KINKOEN in Nara, Mr. Atsushi Nagano. It is made using pine soot produced by Mr. Masao Horiike, the sole remaining shokunin specializing in pine soot.
The result of this special collaboration is a unique ink with a deep black hue and nuanced lightness, characteristic of pure pine soot.
Crafted in a rarely seen hexagonal shape, the entire surface is adorned with a dancing dragon, creating a stunning Nara Sumi that is seldom found elsewhere.
This ink is suitable for Shodo, as well as Sumie/Suibokuga paintings.
