The Renpitsu is the work of Ichiro Suzuki, a master artisan who has dedicated over 60 years to the art of brush-making since the age of 15. It is a uniquely designed brush featuring multiple brush heads joined in a row, primarily used for large-area washes and background painting.
Unlike standard flat brushes or wide hake brushes, each individual brush head maintains its own independent flexibility and tension. This allows for rich, expressive strokes with varied pressure—achieving textures and nuances that are difficult to produce with conventional tools.
Additionally, the Renpitsu boasts exceptional water and sumi retention. It holds significantly more liquid than a standard brush, ensuring smooth, continuous application over large areas without running dry.
