Set of Three from Shaped Like Japanese Sweets in a paulownia wood box.
It is said that wagashi originated in Nara. So as Sumi. Interesting enough, one Japanese traditional sweets shop sells solid Sumi ink shape rakugan (packed sugar sweet). Dry wagashi called Higashi were originally used as offerings to the gods and as part of ceremonies.
So here are Sumi inks in cranes, turtles, and pine trees shape. Those shapes are considered good luck symbols so their imagery is often used at weddings and other celebrations.
The calming scent of matte black sumi ink decorated with gold foil will be appreciated as a modern interior decoration for both Japanese and Western rooms. It is especially recommended for housewarming gifts, thank-you gifts for superiors, and for those looking for a thoughtful gift for persons who are well versed in Japanese culture.
Of course, they are good for calligraphy and suibokuga.
