Tosa Suzuri: Nakamura Suzuri by Issui Kobo
The Soryuseki Suzuri, also known as the Nakamura Suzuri, has been quarried since around 1954 and is highly regarded in various texts as Japan's premier inkstone.
The "Nakamura Suzuri" is a renowned inkstone introduced by inkstone researcher Kenzan Inoue in his book "Senken Shumi" (the hobby of appreciating, studying, and delving into the profound depth of inkstones), where he ranked it as an inkstone comparable to the esteemed Duan and She.
This exceptional inkstone is crafted by Issui Sakamoto of Mizu Kobo. Given his age, he is scaling back his activities, and these inkstones are expected to become increasingly difficult to obtain in the future. We highly recommend them to anyone seeking a high-quality Japanese inkstone.
