筆 sparrow head type

Jakuto Fude a fude made by wrapping the core hair with several layers of washi paper and then adding the outer hair. The brush tip is in the shape of a sparrow's head.

The Shosoin Repository houses imperial preserves treasures related to Emperor Shomu in their original condition. Among these are 17 "Tenpyo fude" and one large sparrow-head brush called the "Tenpyo Homotsu Fude," which is said to have been used during the eye-opening ceremony of the Great Buddha.

The "Tenpyo fude" from Hankeido has the same structure and shape as those preserved in the Shosoin. The brush tubes and caps are also modeled after the No. 1 to No. 6 brushes stored in the Shosoin. The brush tip is in the shape of a sparrow's head ("Jakuto-gata"), allowing for soft strokes and smooth curves. It is well-suited for sutra copying, where maintaining consistent strokes over long periods is essential.
