'Tensho-Ryu' (meaning 'Dragon Rising to the Sky') is a pine soot sumi ink resulting from the collaboration between Mr. Masao Horiike, the last remaining shokunin of pine soot in Japan, and Mr. Atsushi Nagano, the seventh-generation shokunin of KINKOEN. KINKOEN has preserved the art of crafting 'Nara Sumi' for over 150 years, using traditional methods dating back to the Edo period.
Marked by intricate decorations characteristic of Nara Sumi, 'Tensho-Ryu' showcases a vibrant dragon rising vigorously to the sky, beautifully depicted on the surface of the ink.
Truly befitting the Year of the Dragon, this sumi ink stands as a masterpiece that encapsulates the essence of the times.
